Heilpraktiker for Psychotherapy, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Professional Certified Coach

Am I a good fit for you?

As an Expat parent, I provide psychotherapy and coaching for many other Expat parents in intercultural relationships, struggling with identity loss, career changes, family role changes and relationship satisfaction.  Other areas in which I specialize include:

  • Depressed Mood
  • Emotional Support during Postpartum Period
  • Anxious thinking
  • Adjustment
  • Gottman Couples Therapy
  • Procrastination
  • Self-Esteem
  • Career Coaching
  • Life Coaching
  • Racial Trauma
  • Grief
  • Terminal Illnesses & Dying

Long-term working relationships with regular and consistent appointments tend to be the most transformative and meaningful for clients working with me.  We build a co-created therapeutic working relationship in which we both look at what your needs are and what you respond to best.  I then integrate elements of mindfulness and cognitive behavioral approaches as needed.

Educational Bio

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker

After growing up near Boston, I first studied Psychology at Bates College in Maine.  I later completed a Masters in Clinical Social Work at Smith School for Social Work in Northampton, Massachusetts.  This provided the foundation for my psychodynamic and integrative talk-therapy approach.  Before moving abroad I gained experience in family, group and individual therapy in my work with hospice patients & families, Veterans, and patients in an intensive psychiatric outpatient program. Most recently I have completed all 3 levels of Gottman Couples Therapy training.

Heilpraktiker for Psychotherapy

Not knowing how I could continue her career upon arriving in Munich, I learned German in order to work as a counselor at a Sozial Psychiatrischer Dienst. I also worked on a multi-professional therapeutic team for patients with Psychosis at the Soteria within the Isar-Amper-Klinikum Munich before opening a private practice with recognition as a Heilpraktiker for Psychotherapy.

Professional Coaching Certification

My desire to coach came out of her experience at the short-term day-treatment program at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital.  Working with individuals of all ages who chose to take time out of their routine in search of a significant life change, she saw this “time-out” to be transformative. For example, when clients lose a job or retire, they are given an important opportunity to use this “road-block.” With the right reframing, one can see this obstacle as a chance to focus on values of health and redirect to take balance and well-being into account. Through this work, I have seen that choosing to live according to our values leads to a happier and more rewarding life. It is this sense of wholeness and fulfilment that many of us strive for which inspires my coaching practice.

Before moving to Germany, I studied at the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching in order to coach other international Expats.  With 8 years of coaching experience I am now certified as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) according to the International Coaching Federation.
